Dr. Carol McNabb

Dr. McNabb holds a BM from University or North Texas, a MM from University of Louisiana-Monroe, and a DMA from University of Arizona, all in bassoon performance. She studied bassoon with Edward Knob, (former principal Nashville Symphony), Melvin Solomon, David Gibson, and William Dietz. She studied oboe with Warren Sutherland. She performed for over twenty years as a member of the Fort Worth Symphony and Opera orchestras, the Shreveport (Louisiana) Sympony, the Tucson Symphony, and played for fifteen years in the Arizona Music Festival (Scottsdale). She currently serves as co-principal bassoonist with the Valley Symphony (McAllen, Texas), and remains active as a chamber musician and recitalist.

Dr. McNabb has lectured or performed at numerous music conferences, including Texas Music Educators Association, National Association of College Wind and Percussion Instructors, College Music Society, and Texas Bandmasters Association. She has twice had the honor of selecting and presenting the Texas All State Bassoon Etudes. She is an active adjudicator for Solo and Ensemble competitions and all levels of double reed competitions leading to the Texas all state ensembles.
